The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Complex Liability Claims Adjuster to manage high-exposure general liability and excess liability claims involving significant financial exposure, complex coverage issues, and litigation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and negotiation skills, advanced coverage expertise, and the ability to effectively manage claims through resolution while partnering with defense counsel, insureds, brokers, and internal stakeholders.

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Complex Liability Claims Adjuster to manage high-exposure general liability and excess liability claims involving significant financial exposure, complex coverage issues, and litigation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and negotiation skills, advanced coverage expertise, and the ability to effectively manage claims through resolution while partnering with defense counsel, insureds, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex General Liability and Excess Liability claims, including high-exposure bodily injury, property damage, catastrophic losses, and litigated matters.
- Analyze coverage, liability, damages, and exposure to develop effective claim strategies.
- Establish, maintain, and adjust reserves in accordance with company guidelines and best practices.
- Manage litigated claims in partnership with defense counsel, including oversight of pleadings, discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation.
- Review medical records, expert reports, and damage evaluations to assess claim exposure.
- Negotiate settlements within authority and provide recommendations on high-value claims.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and well-documented claim files.
- Communicate effectively with insureds, claimants, attorneys, brokers, and internal business partners.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and service expectations.
- 7–10+ years of experience handling complex, high-exposure General Liability and/or Excess Liability claims.
- Active Resident State Licensing or Active Non-Resident State Licensing and an active New York Adjuster license required.
- Demonstrated experience managing litigated casualty claims from inception through resolution.
- Strong knowledge of liability coverage, tort law, and claims handling best practices.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to independently manage a complex caseload in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
